Penelope is passionate about creating stories that dare to challenge the world we know with new perspectives. She has a weakness for magical realism and humorous stories about serious themes. And she loves arthouse as much as she loves romantic comedies. In her projects, Penelope wants to be creatively involved and values being equal parts realist and risk-taking optimist.
Penelope graduated with an MA. in Film and Media Studies from the University of Copenhagen in 2019, where she wrote her thesis on the risk-taking behaviour of Danish film producers. She started her career at Beofilm in 2017, where she assisted on a number of feature films and series while producing her own projects. In 2021, Penelope produced BLU's first fiction series FANTOMFORHOLD. She has also produced a number of short films, including the short film HUNGUD, which was nominated for the Danish Academy Award for Best Short Film in 2022, and the documentary LETTERS FROM ST. PETERSBURG, which was exhibited at Nikolaj Kunsthal and selected for CPH:DOX in 2022.
Alongside Super16, Penelope is a junior producer at MOTOR.
In a near future, where a pill can extend only women's lives by 400 years, and men everywhere lose influence as a result, we meet the now-deposed Prime Minister, Kim Harding, as he gathers a group of aggrieved men behind him in an attempt to regain power and influence. Everything is going according to plan, until Kim's disciple, the younger, angrier and more idealistic man, Karl, wins over the group and challenges Kim in an internal struggle for power and honor. We follow a group of kids, left all by themselves in a trashed world, living day by day and trying to avoid the unknown future. The kids put all their fear into hating the adults, but what will happen when one of the kids starts to become one?
'Companion AI' is a new technology that allows for the implantation of relationships through a chip. Saga is anti-tech, lonely, and struggles to connect with others, as popular technology creates distance between people. When she reunites with her childhood friend Etta, whom she misses in her life, she sees an opportunity to rekindle a genuine and deep relationship. However, Etta herself has a 'companion,' making it challenging to reestablish their bond. This drives Saga on a journey where she must compromise and turn inward in the pursuit of a genuine relationship.
