Stine Emil Thorbøll (they/them) grew up in a suburb of Aarhus, spending most of their time getting a moped license and writing songs in an alternative rock band.
For years, they were preoccupied with trying to decode society’s social rules, only to become deeply frustrated when they realised those rules are neither consistent nor fair—and rarely support the best possible life between people. It’s this ongoing exploration of human complexity and social injustice that fuels Stine Emil’s love for cinema.
