Alexander Saul (b. 1997, London) is 204 centimeters tall, which gives him a natural overview – both of his characters and his Chihuahua, named after Elton John. He is a high-functioning paranoid schizophrenic and voice-hearer, and since his teenage years, he has used filmmaking to reclaim his own narrative after many years marked by a sense of powerlessness. His Jewish background and his experience of navigating between different worlds shape his perspective on normality, belonging, and inner conflict.
This is reflected in his award-winning short films Sygt Forelsket (2024), selected for Nordisk Panorama and the Odense International Film Festival, and SNIPPED (2025), selected for the HollyShorts Film Festival.
Alongside his work as a film director, he is a volunteer ambassador for PsykInfo, where he gives talks about mental illness to help destigmatize what it means to live with a psychosis diagnosis.
