Camilla Magid is born in Copenhagen 1979. In her late teens she joined the tall ship DANMARK and travelled around Europe and North Africa. Her educational background is consisting of an almost completed Master from Film- and Media science (University of Copenhagen), and two years of studies in Arab language and culture. From this platform she began making her first film ‘The Black Lines’ (29 min – 2006). The film was shot in Aleppo, Syria. Her hope is to combine her skills from the two very different worlds and through the film media to create dialog and understanding between the Middle East and the western world.
In 2007 she was hired to make an integration campaign to encourage firms to hire more people with a foreign background for the largest Danish lobby association “Danish Industry”. Same year, Camilla became a member of the Danish Film Association SUPER16. In this forum she has made the film “Winter Holiday” about three teenage girls left alone by both their families and the system, and with nothing else to do in their winter holiday than participate in fights and watching other children fight and “Heart of Mine” about men in an Australian mining town with very few women.
