Kræsten is born and raised in Thy in the northwestern part of Denmark. He moved to Copenhagen in 1997. He has made 15 short films since 1998. The first 10 he directed, produced, wrote and edited himself. Among them “Following wind” (2000), “Love” (2002), “A home with piano” (2003), and “Fly Me to the Moon” (3rd place at the Going Underground Berlin 2004).
The last 5 films have been supported by Nordisk Film, Super16 and DFI/Film Workshop. “Next to the Road” (2004), “House of Glass” (2005), “Bye Bye Nikolaj” (2006), “Shrovetide” (2007) and “Black Man” (2008).
Kræsten's films have among others been shown on Odense Film Festival (DK), Bastard57 (DK), Cosmic Zoom (DK), DR (Danish national TV), Recontres Henri Langlois (FR), Euganea Movie Movement (ITA), Circuito Off Venice International Short Film Festival (ITA) Figueira da Foz (POR), og Roshd (Iran).
Since 2003 his has been joint owner of the film production company Kram Film.
Kræsten lives with his girlfriend Anahi and their 2-year-old daughter Ella. He has a master in Film and art from Copenhagen University.
